What is an Innovative Start Up Member?
UKGBC has categories of memberships for innovative start-ups and scale-ups who are working to develop and scale impactful solutions that can transform the sustainability of the built environment. This membership category is designed to help these organisations scale through profiling opportunities, market insight and industry engagement. This membership connects innovators directly with industry stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between solution development and real-world adoption.
Benefits of Innovative Start-Up Membership
- Bulletins notifying of opportunities from UKGBC’s wider innovation network including pilot project, investment and acceleration opportunities.
- Access to UKGBC’s Solutions & Innovation Advisory Group to gain market insight and product development advice, either one-to-one or in focus groups with other start-ups.
- Profiling opportunities, including potential speaking opportunities at relevant innovation showcase events, and during roundtables and workshops.
- Full access to UKGBC’s wider membership benefits, including access to forums and events, collaboration on industry projects and initiatives and access to a range of learning resources.
Innovative Start-Up Criteria
- The company’s product or service aims to solve a challenge aligned with UKGBC’s vision for a sustainable built environment.
- The company’s product or service is designed to scale quickly, and is not predominately advisory or consultancy
- Must meet at least two of the following numerical criteria:
- It is less than 5 years since the date of the company’s incorporation.
- The company has less than 50 employees globally
- The company has less than £1m in turnover
Scale-up members are those that meet the above, but exceed 2 of the above numerical criteria.
Innovative Start-Up members must also meet UKGBC’s Standard membership requirements.
In some cases we may consult with UKGBC’s Solutions & Innovation Advisory Group to review applications.
