Public Affairs Work
As the new government settle into their seats, UKGBC is determined to make this next chapter pivotal in our mission to radically improve the sustainability of the built environment. We are building on the relationships we’ve been fostering with Labour and civil servants to continue to represent the voice of the built environment in policy-making towards a sustainable future. UKGBC is stepping up its policy and advocacy work this year to bring the sector together around a common sense agenda, shape the conversation with decision-makers, and raise the profile of our mission.
This member-powered campaign for a change of government builds on the success of previous advocacy projects and draws together our live campaigns for policy progress on upgrading Britain’s homes, planning reform, commercial retrofit, embodied carbon, new developments, nature restoration, and resilience.
Building Britain’s Future
These are the four big opportunities the government has to tackle the multiple crises facing the country – from soaring energy, housing and health costs, to left behind and vulnerable communities, and a climate and nature breakdown – by upgrading the places we live, work and play.

Policy & Advocacy Task Force
This new UKGBC Task Force for this new era of public affairs work has been established to harness the expertise and thought leadership of members. It provides expertise and extends our convening capacity as we forge relationships with the new government – aiming to shape the policy conversation on areas as diverse as commercial retrofit, embodied carbon, new developments, nature restoration and resilience.
The Task Force will ensure that this work raises the voice of our sector to have real impact with a change of government.
