- The items were worth £82 316 and has benefited 7559 people through the charities and local community groups receiving the donations.
Notable Approaches And Solutions
Using Globechain enabled British Land to challenge the traditional deconstruction methods. Prioritising reuse from the start of the project meant they could reduce their waste from the site and make an impact on the community. Using the software allowed British Land to monitor and track the impact of the reuse, giving them valuable ESG data necessary for their reporting.
Lessons Learnt
By identifying the items during the pre-demolition audit. The team at KpH were able to manage the logistics of the collections in advance, ensuring that it didn’t have any impact on the program. They were also able to identify potential barriers such as loading bay limitations and building insurance requirements beforehand and devise a strategy.
Education of employees was critical, and training on the software pre-strip out proved high success rates and increased behaviour change when using the system efficiently. KpH also learnt that once they were confident, they could be more adventurous regarding the assets and materials listed.
