Basil Demeroutis annonced as UKGBC's Deputy Chair of Trustees

UKGBC has appointed Basil Demeroutis, managing partner at specialist investment and asset management business FORE Partnership, as deputy chair of trustees.

Basil, who brings decades of finance, investor relations and commercial development to the role, was elected by trustees following a recent board meeting.

Our current Chair, Judith Everett, Chief of Staff at Arup will remain in post until the end of 2027, at which point Basil will take on the chairship.

His appointment – having been one of our Trustees since 2021 – comes as UKGBC continues to convene our members to rise to the evolving challenges of the rapidly changing political and wider economic landscape.

It’s a privilege to step into the deputy-chair role and continue a relationship with UKGBC I’ve valued since 2021. I’m passionate about the UKGBC’s mission to transform how the built environment is financed, operated and repurposed.

I’m convinced the sector’s hardest problem isn’t technical, as we largely know how to decarbonise a building. It’s financial and behavioural: how to get capital to price resilience before it’s forced to. That’s the conversation I want to help UKGBC lead. I’m grateful to Judith for the foundation she’s laid, and I have a year to learn from her before stepping into the chair role.”
