Innovation Showcase - Low Impact Construction Materials and Systems
This webinar will showcase innovative solutions available to help built environment practitioners reduce the impacts from the construction of their projects. It will help attendees understand the materials and systems available and have the opportunity to ask follow-up questions directly to solution providers.
Embodied carbon currently makes up 20% of UK built environment emissions, whilst the embodied ecological impact of the materials we use affect nature globally. We need to find lower-impact ways to source and use materials, including exploring bio-based materials and turning waste streams into valuable resources.
UKGBC has recently published the Whole Life Carbon Framework and the Framework for a Nature Positive Built Environment, both of which encourage the use of low-impact and circular materials. UKGBC is also exploring how modular construction systems using sustainable materials can be scaled across the built environment. This webinar will showcase some of these solutions, and give members the chance to ask questions directly to innovators.
