UKGBC announces new Solutions & Innovation Advisory Group to drive innovation adoption

Delivering a more sustainable built environment requires more than innovative ideas – it requires proven solutions to be adopted and scaled at pace. Through our Solutions & Innovation workstream, UKGBC is identifying high-impact sustainability solutions, understanding the barriers to their adoption, and working with industry to accelerate their deployment across the built environment. By bringing together innovators, adopters and industry leaders, we aim to create the conditions for widespread implementation and market transformation.
UKGBC’s Solutions & Innovation workstream seeks to:
– Increase the adoption of solutions that help address the industry’s most pressing environmental and social challenges.
– Showcase best practice case studies and viable sustainability solutions.
– Raise the profile of, and help scale, innovative start-ups and solutions.
– Support a culture of open innovation and collaboration around innovation.
This year, the workstream enters the second year of the Scaling Sustainable Solutions for the Built Environment initiative, building on the launch of the Barriers and Enablers report. Over the coming year, UKGBC will work with industry to test how the identified enablers can be applied in real-world contexts, develop practical pathways to move solutions from pilots to mainstream adoption, support collaboration across the value chain, and share insights and learning to accelerate progress across the sector.

To support this work, we have convened a new Solutions & Innovation Advisory Group. Drawing on expertise from across the built environment value chain, the group will help shape the workstream’s priorities, provide strategic insight, and champion the adoption and scaling of sustainable solutions across the sector by:
– Acting as an ‘innovation champion’ within their organisation, identifying innovation challenges, priority areas, and adoption opportunities.
– Providing market insight to UKGBC members engaging in sustainable innovation for the built environment.
– Acting as a sounding board for UKGBC’s Solutions & Innovation activities.
