UKGBC released updated guidance on Renewable Energy Procurement in August 2023, to support stakeholders who procure energy in the built environment to understand how to do so in a way that meaningfully drives the decarbonisation of the electricity system as a whole.

The guidance defines three principles for quality procurement and identifies a number of recommended actions to respond to these. It also creates a suite of quantitative metrics and qualitative questions to secure the necessary information from energy suppliers to compare the electricity products being offered to you in a standardised way. Using this information, the guidance then provides a system for rating your building’s overall electricity strategy, including its energy procurement, onsite generation, and energy management. This rating system helps you determine how effectively your building is contributing to accelerating the transition to a resilient, zero carbon grid.

Now, nearly a year since its launch, we are seeking your views on how the guidance has landed, to help us refine and improve it. Let us know your thoughts and experiences via the short survey. (estimated completion time: 5 mins)
