Technical Advisory Group

In anticipation of our 20th anniversary, UKGBC is convening a cross-industry Technical Advisory group to review key guidance and advance industry knowledge. The advisory group will be formed of two cohorts to encourage knowledge sharing and mentorship and enable UKGBC to test the accessibility of our outputs: Technical experts and forward-thinking early careers professionals.

Future opportunity

In 2027, UKGBC will celebrate 20 years of advocating, enabling and inspiring accelerated action on climate change, resource use, nature & biodiversity, health & wellbeing and socio-economic impact. UKGBC’s guidance has successfully supported the built environment to deliver low carbon, climate resilient, nature positive and circular outcomes. 

We are reviewing our guidance to reflect changes in policy, market expectations, and best practice. This process will ensure our outputs remain relevant, practical, aligned with the latest evidence, and able to support the built environment to deliver measurable progress on climate mitigation and adaptation outcomes. 

We are looking for individuals with expertise and interest in the following topic areas:

  • Climate Change Mitigation
  • Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience
  • Nature
  • Resource Use
  • Health, Wellbeing & Social Value

Technical Advisory Group Purpose

The Technical Advisory Group will be responsible for:

Reviewing a chosen UKGBC output

and determining its current relevance.

Identifying any necessary technical updates

and developments required.

Defining any new contextual messaging that may need to preface the output

as a result of industry developments or the publication of adjacent guidance.

Review alignment

with current policies and standards.

The group will individually review the selected guidance before meeting for a kick-off call. We will then break into sub-groups for specific outputs to discuss any refinements or developments. The full group will then be called back to review any refinements made by UKGBC.

  • Influence best practice at a critical time of regulatory and market change 
  • Bring real‑world insight into how guidance is applied in practice
