Letter from the Prime Minister's Office

In July 2024, UKGBC wrote to Sir Keir Starmer with our agenda. We outlined the ways that our sector is poised to support the new government with our shared ambitions.
UKGBC has received a response to the letter, with the PM’s office praising our work and recognising the importance of collaboration going forward. On UKGBC’s agenda, the PM’s office stated that “As part of the Prime Minister’s Plan for Change, the Government shares your vision and aims, which truly represents the amazing value civil society has on people and communities.”
In our letter, we emphasised the urgency and importance of aligning the planning system with the Climate Change Act, as we have previously championed. We called for increased investment in the Warm Homes plan to £62 billion over 10 years, as was evidenced by our national retrofit calculator. We also offered our comprehensive resilience roadmap to support their mission of cohesive action on climate resilience for the UK’s built environment. And we shared our lessons from our regenerative places programme working closely with local authorities.
