The anger and frustration at the Prime Minister’s roll back on green policies has reverberated across industry as well as politics. We know that weakening policies on phasing out gas boilers and insulating private rented homes will have a chilling effect on investment and confidence across the sector, not just for heat pump and insulation manufacturers.

We now have a window of opportunity. If the pushback is strong enough, we may yet halt momentum behind a further driving back of green policy and ambition as manifestoes are written in the countdown to the general election.

UKGBC is coordinating across industry and supporting all organisations – not just our members – to speak out against this shift in approach to green policies. As the voice of our sustainable built environment we want the full support of our sector – demonstrating the built environment’s frustration at this U-turn and the desire for policy support as we all work hard to accelerate net zero.
