About This Event

Members are invited to join UKGBC to visit Unusual Rigging HQ.

The site visit will kick off with short presentations to set out key concepts and the thinking behind the project, followed by tours of the building to explore practical examples of circular economy solutions. Afterwards, there will be a networking session and drinks with industry peers.

Unusual Rigging HQ is located on a 4-acre site in Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire, and stands as an example of circular workplace design and innovation. Purpose-built with circular economy principles in mind, the structure is intended to be dismantled and reused at the end of its life, emphasising low-carbon construction and the reuse of materials. Key objectives for the project included minimising embodied and operational carbon, fostering long-term adaptability, and embracing renewable energy solutions.

Unusual Rigging HQ serves as a distinctive model of circular design, demonstrating how office buildings can fulfil business functions while also supporting environmental needs. It incorporates a range of recognised sustainable features such as airtight construction, thermal efficiency, and local procurement.
