WMCA Climate Action Plan – consultation response

WMCA have specifically invited comment on four questions at the end of the Climate Action Plan. We briefly address some of those questions and subsequently expand on areas in which we have specific expertise which you can read in the full response here.
The proposed plan is comprehensive, focusing on radically reducing carbon emissions while also successfully managing to make vital links to climate adaptation and nature-based solutions, circular economy and health and wellbeing. One area that is currently missing is a recognition of the importance of embodied carbon in the construction, maintenance and demolition of buildings and infrastructure. We expand on the specific policies in our response as well as addressing barriers and opportunities, accountability and governance, and citizen involvement.
