Organisations are increasingly considering the use of shadow or internal carbon pricing as part of their broader decarbonisation strategy. Central to this approach is the ‘polluter pays’ principle, which can create financial incentives for emitters to reduce emissions. How the carbon price is set, what scope of emissions it is levied on and how the resulting hypothetical or realised funds are spent varies from organisation to organisation.

UKGBC are seeking to explore the current actions, plans, and thoughts of our members on the use of Carbon Pricing. The roundtable will start with a presentation from UKGBC on research into current industry action. Outcomes from this event will help identify helpful activities that UKGBC can then potentially undertake to assist our members in this journey.

Who should attend

Members who have implemented, or are seeking to implement a form of carbon pricing, especially investors, owner-occupiers, developers, and contractors.

How to register your interest

Please register your interest in attending the roundtable by emailing Emily.Huynh@ukgbc.org with your full name, job title and organisation and answer to the following questions:

  1. What one issue on carbon pricing would you most like to explore in the workshop?
  2. What carbon price has your organisation set, if any?

Note that UKGBC may need to limit roundtable numbers to ensure a good spread of members and such that all attendees can partake in the discussions.
