Scottish Policy

While the climate crisis affects the entire UK, each nation and local area has its own journey to a net zero future. As a whole-UK organisation, UKGBC ensures that we deliver policy solutions and advocacy for Scotland’s unique political environment and strong industries.
Why do we focus on Scotland?
With the Scottish Government having committed to achieving net zero by 2045 – five years earlier than the UK – Scotland’s distinct political environment places significant focus on climate policy.
Launched at COP26 when the world’s eyes were turned to Glasgow, UKGBC Scotland works collectively across the sector to across to convene industry leaders and engage with devolved authorities to sustain momentum and drive through major initiatives to support the Scottish built environment’s path to net zero.

Want to help shape our response to the Scottish heat in buildings consultation?
The Scottish Government has published a consultation on energy efficiency and heating regulations to be included in the Heat in Buildings Bill, marking a key moment in Scotland’s developing policy for net zero. UKGBC Scotland will be submitting a response to the consultation and invites member views to help guide our advocacy.
UKGBC has created a briefing on the bill, and what you need to know so that you can contribute to our consultation response.
