UK Green Building Council is the industry network with a mission to radically transform the built environment in the face of the climate and nature crises. We champion bold government action and convene the ambitious sections of Industry to drive progress at pace and scale.

This is an opportunity to play a role at the forefront of tackling the climate and nature crises and to protect communities. Nature is in collapse and our buildings and communities will not withstand the climate impacts we face without urgent action. The places we live, work and play in must, and can, be part of the solution, not the problem.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of 40 passionate, skilled people from across the UK with a London office hub. As a green charity, we prize our welcoming and inclusive work culture with wellbeing and professional development at its heart.

We are looking for an experienced Policy and Public Affairs Advisor to lead projects, policy research and public affairs advocacy, to champion the national and local policies needed to rapidly accelerate the shift to a sustainable built environment.

The role would suit someone with proven experience in the following: Policy and procedures, Government Policies, Policy Adviser, etc.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate advocacy campaigns for game-changing policies – convening members and allies, and engaging with politicians and government officials
  • Lead the development of policy recommendations on nature restoration, climate resilience and planning reform and other built environment issues – responding to government consultations, assessing and translating government announcements, drafting reports and briefings, briefing senior staff on developments.
  • Build broad-based support for UKGBC’s policies amongst UKGBC’s membership and stakeholders, fostering and maintaining relationships across industry, think tanks, NGOs and academia. Keep up-to-date records of stakeholder engagement through Salesforce to support organisation-wide coordination and reporting.
  • Promote the agenda – speaking at government and industry meetings, conferences and member events and to journalists, and work closely with the communications team writing opinion pieces and blogs
