COP26 UKGBC Member Briefing Webinar

Five years on from the Paris Agreement, Glasgow is the first time that countries will be obliged to report on their plans to ratchet up national carbon commitments. It’s being touted as a critical moment for the UN process and global attempts to combat the climate crisis – and the UK, with Italy as co-President, is in the driving seat.
COP26 provides a unique opportunity for the UK business community to demonstrate its climate leadership, to strengthen the hand of negotiators by demonstrating that the built environment sector has the solutions, and by advocating for the policy changes needed to accelerate the pace of change. UKGBC will provide opportunities for members to use their voice throughout 2020 in the run-up to COP, and in Glasgow itself, where we will have a strong presence alongside our partners at WorldGBC and a range of other business groups and NGOs.
In order to involve members in those plans, we will be holding a special members-only webinar briefing on 24 February, 1-2pm, where I will be joined by Sarah Millar, COP adviser to UKGBC and WorldGBC and a former senior BEIS official, to provide a background primer on the COP process, the role of business, and to set out UKGBC’s plans in a little more detail. I hope you can join us, and if you can’t, a recording will be available.
